Notre Dame to face Army in another Shamrock Series game at Yankee Stadium

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The Notre Dame football team announced on Wednesday that it will take on Army in the 2024 Shamrock Series, which is returning to Yankee Stadium on Nov. 23.
The team will celebrate 100th anniversary of the fabled Four Horsemen backfield of Jim Crowley, Elmer Layden, Don Miller, and Harry Stuhldreher and the game in which they were immortalized by Grantland Rice in the New York Herald Tribune — a 13-7 upset victory over Army in New York on Oct. 18, 1924.
The Shamrock Series began in 2009 when Notre Dame started to “take a home game on the road” in San Antonio. Since then, Notre Dame has hosted 11 Shamrock Series games across the country and has won them all.
This year’s matchup against Army will be the third Shamrock Series game at Yankee Stadium. The Fighting Irish defeated the Black Knights 27-3 in 2010 and Syracuse 36-3 in 2018.
In addition to beating Army in 2010, Notre Dame beat the Black Knights in a Shamrock Series game in 2016 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
According to ESPN, Notre Dame and Army have played at Yankee Stadium a total of 23 times, including 22 times at the original Yankee Stadium.
