Man upgraded to stable condition after shooting outside of Elkhart bank
ELKHART, Ind. (WNDU) - A man is now in stable condition and another man has been arrested after a shooting late Thursday afternoon outside of a bank in Elkhart.
Police say they were called just before 4:10 p.m. to the 1st Source Bank in the 2000 block of E. Bristol Street. When they arrived, they say they found a 40-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot.
According to police, the man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. As of Friday afternoon, he has been upgraded to stable condition.
Police say the 38-year-old suspect was arrested and booked into the Elkhart County Jail. He is facing a preliminary charge of aggravated battery.
The suspect has not been identified at this time. Police say they will release his name if a judicial officer finds probable cause for the arrest and sets a bond amount.
No injuries were reported to people inside the bank.
The shooting remains under investigation.
