SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ/Gray News) - Authorities in Ohio are searching for remains connected to more than one missing person case dating back at least 40 years after they received a tip from a “reliable source.”

The Scioto Bureau of Criminal Investigation said the tip has led to an “all-hands-on-deck operation” at a property along Pine Creek Road.

Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman said agencies are searching for the remains of potentially multiple people who have gone missing decades ago.

Scioto County authorities are being assisted by the Columbus Police Department, Ohio BCI, Southern Ohio Corrections Facility and a Special Response Team.

Thoroughman said the tip that led officials to this location relates to cases in several counties.

The sheriff said the search for human remains along Pine Creek Road required help from all of the involved agencies starting April 2.
