Kosciusko County prosecutor orders immediate take down of Flock cameras
Brad Voelz’s order comes after the County Council voted to cut funding for the automatic license plate reader technology company.
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) - Another Michiana county is cutting ties with Flock.
The Kosciusko County Council voted on September 10 to stop funding Flock cameras. This comes just days after Starke County ended its relationship with Flock and close to a month after Marshall County did the same.
On September 11, Kosciusko County prosecutor Brad Voelz ordered the immediate end to routine searches and live system tracking.
Voelz said that, in keeping with Indiana law and to protect victim’s rights, law enforcement has a strict seven-day window to preserve existing evidence tied to active criminal cases and ongoing investigations. The deadline ends on September 18.
According to Voelz, all local agency access to the Flock system will end.
Voelz also ordered county personnel to immediately take down and securely store all physical camera hardware pending vendor pickup.
